The Throne
The Throne - The Big Dump, penned by Clark Gormley and James Carter, is the long-awaited sequel to a Newcastle cult classic. A live onstage radio play complete with sound effects and totally unnecessary props, The Throne told the long and convoluted story of a sterling silver toilet that wound up on the Newcastle steelworks site to provide relief for Her Majesty on her royal visit of 1954. The Throne - The Big Dump is the updated version, suitable for our new monarch and flush with feculent puns.
The premiere performance of The Throne - The Big Dump was at the Newcastle Fringe 2025. It was nominated for best premiere show award. It was performed to delirious audiences at the Royal Exchange.
By the way, the original play The Throne was written by Clark and James Carter way back in 2003, for an ABC Newcastle radio play competition. We didn’t win. We performed this original play at The Royal Exchange in 2007 and again in 2012.
